Shared core, two sites, tiered permissions

One core · two looks · editorial approval flow

Problem

Two sites needed distinct looks but almost identical admin logic, plus multi-level editorial approval, a people directory, document sections, and backups and monitoring that survive years.

Approach

A shared core (routing, templates, permissions, attachments) with per-site themes and section config. Approval is role-tiered and publishes leave a trail; attachments and thumbnails are compressed on write.

Details

Nightly online SQLite backups (VACUUM INTO) with eight rotating copies; PHP pages send no-store so phones do not cache stale versions; static assets are version-named.

Page response 0.5 s to 0.1 s; one core shared by both sites, one change reaches both; backups and uptime checks always on.
